How to Choose a Suitable Chromatic Confocal Sensor

Our chromatic confocal sensors have many models with different precisions, measuring ranges, dimensions, spot sizes, working distances, etc.

How to Choose a Suitable Chromatic Confocal Sensor
So how to choose a suitable model according to your requirement? Here are some tips.

Determine the measuring range: First determine the measuring range, if the object to be measured is a smooth surface, determine the maximum possible inclination, and the working distance from the sample to the lens, and select the appropriate size and spot size.

Measurement of the mirror plane with a large curvature is required: Large-angle lenses as a priority.

Roughened surface: Products with large angles and small spots provide small runout on roughened surfaces.

Fast speed is required: Generally, under the equivalent other parameters, the larger the light spot is, the higher the light intensity is and the faster the speed is; and the larger the diameter of the optic fiber is, the faster the speed is.

High lateral resolution is required: To measure microtopography, micro-gap grooves, roughness or edge-finding, the product with small light spot provides high lateral resolution and the product with large angle has small light spot.

Measurement of thickness of non-transparent materials: Use two lenses for correlation.

Measurement of thickness of transparent materials: For materials with high flatness, high transparency, and low precision requirements, single lens can be used for thickness measurement; and if high precision is required, bilateral lens can be used for thickness measurement.

Large segment gap: Use large-range lens.

Precision: The smaller the range is, the higher the precision of the sensor will be.

Profile measurement: Scan and measure with a precision motion device equipped with a sensor lens.
Measurement of the side wall of an inner hole: Use the turntable rotating workpiece.

Multi-channel paralleling: Use small-diameter lens and arrange them in line.
Multi-point measurement: Use multi-channel controllers to make multi-split effect more economical.

Selection tips: Please describe your application clearly. Our experienced engineers will recommend suitable products to you.
